Gathering Guidance: Gags 'n Gears for Good

If you watched our panels at ToonFest recently, you probably caught wind of the many exciting projects we have in the works! However, one of those announcements was that we need YOU to provide feedback on an idea we’ve been kicking around for a while – a project we like to call Gags ‘n Gears for Good!
Over the years, we've heard from the Toontown Community that Toontown merch is just getting to be too expensive. Items from Toontown Online are considered collectors items, and items from Toontown Rewritten are often only available if you can attend ToonFest due to our limited resources. Gags 'n Gears for Good is our idea to fix this!
Here's the quick pitch: With Gags 'n Gears for Good, can order Toontown goodies online like T-shirts, mugs, posters, and more designed directly by the Toontown Rewritten Team from anywhere in the world. Part of the cost of the item will go to our production partners to cover the cost of manufacturing and shipping, and the rest is sent directly to a charity!
If you’ve always dreamt of getting some TOONTASTIC goodies to represent your love for the game, those dreams could be possible! Not only that, but you can feel good knowing it’s directly helping people in need – a double win!
What is Gags 'n Gears for Good?
Since the beginning of Toontown Rewritten, we’ve been giving away promotional items funded out of our pockets to show our appreciation to the Toontown community for their support. Due to the cost of how much it takes to produce items, there hasn’t been enough goodies to go around. We often hear from the community how they wished these items would be made available outside of ToonFest. Gags ‘n Gears for Good is a direct response to these requests.
As a community, Toontown enthusiasts have contributed toward charity drives, such as Team Trees and ToonFest for Charity. We thought that combining the ideas of these two missions would be a win-win for the community and those in need. Gags ‘n Gears for Good is a charity project in which YOU, the player, can purchase an item and have 100% of the profits go to charity.
Here's how it works behind-the-scenes: Our artists donate their time to create product designs using our original designs and characters. A third party partner handles the payments, sales tax collection, distribution, shipping and handling. Then, they pass 100% of the profits on to our chosen charity, without us having to touch a cent!
How Will This Charity Work?
When you purchase an item through Gags ‘n Gears for Good, our third party production partner will prepare your item and send it out to you. Items will be priced close to what is required to manufacture the item with a small markup for charity. You can feel good that your order helps people in need while receiving some Toontastic merch as a thank-you for donating! After all, Toontown is about teamwork, and we are very passionate about helping folks out there all across the Tooniverse.
What Kind of Items Should I Expect?
A vision we have is to make it feel like you are getting items straight from the Tooniverse. We have showcased such items during ToonFest, like the Donald’s Dreamland Blanket. We've also teased other items like the Sad Mug, where it references Toontown, but is not something you’d probably come across in-game! All art is 100% made by our art team, and will never use any Toontown Online assets for creation. If we move forward, we might even ask what items YOU would love to see the most!

We're confident that this is a project that addresses community requests about merch while keeping the future of Toontown safe, but we know the idea is a little outside-the-box! With this in mind, we want to hear from YOU about whether you'd like to see Gags 'n Gears for Good come to life!

I like the idea! I've always wanted TTR to make merchandise, and this sounds like a good way to go about it.

What toontasic charity will we be donating to by buying this toontown merch
Oh dear, so much to choose from! Whatever could I buy? Will The Cold Callers be getting a shirt? I'd buy that in an instants. I could see it now, "Respect The Cold Callers, you were one once too you know!" Quite the shirt that would be. Perhaps a Kaboomberg Postcard for sale? I've been vacationing in Kaboomberg for the past while. Lovely area. Fresh smog, rich oil in the grounds. It's simply the perfect place to work in when you need a few Merits when your 100 Merits short. I'd say open up the rest of Kaboomberg. I'd love to see their Sellbot Towers. The factories are practically in reach, if only Dr. Googly Moogly would take down the barricade. I could use a new hat as well... Well, the gears on my wonderful hat need a swap. They're beginning to rust. Either way, I look forward to entering the shop as soon as it opens. Hooray for the Gags 'N Gears FOR GOOD!
