Programmers, We Need YOU!
Posted by The Toontown Team on August 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM
Hey, Toons! This is a call for the tech-savvy, organized, and charismatically creative among you who are interested in joining our team. Our Programming Department is actively expanding and hiring for multiple roles!
We’re looking for anyone personable, passionate about Toontown, and interested in programming to help out! We have a slew of exciting projects in the works behind the scenes – including Clear Coasts, which we announced last year. These projects require watchful eyes to implement, polish, and bring to life!
We're not looking for Number Crunchers, we want to work with Toons just like you who can bring that trademark sense of community and belonging to their achievements. Suppose you’re all about finding creative solutions to difficult problems, maintaining excellent communication with your peers, and pushing Toontown to be better than ever. In that case, one of the active roles below may be for you!
Game Programmer
We end up with our fair share of banana peels and cake batter of unknown origin gumming up the game's internals from time to time. As a result, our Game Programmers are integral to the game’s operation. They’re responsible for a host of duties from content implementation to bug fixes to potential contribution for new gameplay. Without their expertise, there is no Toontown!
Familiarity with the Python programming language and the Panda3D Game Engine are assets; but so are enthusiasm about programming, a constructive attitude, and commitment to teamwork!
Web Developer
Our Toons who work behind the scenes need powerful tools to manage the game; shovels and rakes just don't cut it anymore. That's where Web Developers come in! These Toons work directly with our website and various internal services to create and improve tools our developers, support agents, and moderators use. This typically involves knowledge of Python, Javascript, and CSS.
We're looking for anyone familiar with some languages and/or libraries, willing to learn new technologies, and just as enthusiastic about our website as we are!
Please note: we are currently only looking for applications that are interested in back-end development. Please see the button below for more information on our back-end stack.
Generalist Programmer
Introducing a brand-new role! If you have a strong interest in coding but don't see yourself in the above roles, we'd still like to hear from you! Generalist Programmers provide technical assistance to support other areas of the team as needed. For example, a Generalist Programmer might work with the Moderation Department to write new filters to speed up name moderation processing. Think of this role as the layer of grease applied daily to each Goofy Speedway track that allows karts to run faster and smoother!
For this role, we're interested in hearing from a wide range of programming backgrounds. If you're comfortable with any programming language and would like to contribute to Toontown Rewritten, this may be the role for you!
Become A Generalist Programmer!
If any of these sound like the role for you, we’d love to hear from you! If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to support@toontownrewritten.com. Click the buttons above if you’d like to learn more about applying for any of these positions, or feel free to check out our application page for more information on any other active TTR role!
You ARE Toon Enough!

Gosh Programming? I've never written a report which has less on everything so i will give to them what they will deserve to be like to be caused which is the team staff member thank you for everything and i hope u will gain your future soon . Have a nice day!
Are you looking for any programming volunteers or part time programmers?
Ah, I wish I knew how to code! ; ; I'd happily sign up if I could!!!
I bet The Boiler was a HUGE while loop with many nests. Bahahaha! I'm excited to apply I just need to meet the activity thresholds
Geez Louise. Programing? I couldn't write Shakespeare, much less full on code. Jeepers, sounds like a hard roll to keep everything running smooth in Toontown. Well, if they can get the beach side open by next Summer, I'd be more than a happy cat. The docks aren't exactly the best place to vacation, ya know. Seems every other day a storms brewing about down Lighthouse Lane. Some say the cogs cause it, and I'd believe them. If ever met a storm cloud cog, I'd give them what for! Probably a Lawbot causing it too, those Lawbots always got a sob story causing rain showers more often than not! How do ya think the Bottom Feeders stay in such great shape? Back to the matter at hand though, I'd love to go into code writing, but I'm on vacation currently. Maybe I'll apply next Spring? How's that sound?
