Come One, Come All To The TOONYs 2024!

Posted by The Toontown Team on March 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM

Calling all creative Toons! It’s time to celebrate the greatest award show in the Tooniverse! The TOONYs are returning for a 4th year celebration at ToonFest: The Great Fanfair, and we need YOU to celebrate it with us. We even added new categories this year for extra fan-flair! Even if you cannot make it to ToonFest in-person, Toons at home can still participate!

The TOONYs 2024

But folks, we hear some of you: what are The TOONYs? Why, it’s the most Toontastic award show of the YEAR, of course! This event is here to celebrate what makes the Toontown community so special to everyone. This is your chance to showcase your best creative talents! We will be hosting this spectacular event LIVE at ToonFest: The Great Fanfair. Curious on how past shows have gone? We got you covered with our first, second, and third ceremonies!

Returning to us this year are our favorite categories: cosplay, videos, limericks, and artwork. We also are introducing two new categories: designing clothing and telling us your zaniest jokes! We received word that Tammy the Tailor is requesting help for creating a new set of clothes just in time for this year’s Cartoonival. Bonnie Bubbles is also looking for new Cog-ified Jokes specifically about the Supervisors to enter into the joke database.

General Guidelines

  • Your submissions should be directly related to Toontown Rewritten, but don’t let this limit your creativity! From the Cogs you fight on the streets to the fish you catch on the docks, anything to do with the game is perfectly on-topic!

  • All submissions will be judged 25% on presentation and artistic quality, 25% on originality, and 50% on Toon-inspired humor.
  • All entries should be your own work and made specifically for the TOONY awards!
  • Know your way around videos and love designing clothes? You can enter as many categories as you’d like!
  • The winner or winners in each category will be contacted after ToonFest is over to receive a Toontown Prize Pack! If you win and are present at ToonFest, you'll be able to claim your prize while attending the event.

Online Submissions

  • All Video, Artwork, Limerick, Clothing, and Joke entries must be submitted online even if you are attending ToonFest! To enter the Cosplay category, you can either follow the online submission guidelines below or show up in person with your cosplay on the day of the TOONYs (May 25, 2024).
  • There are a couple ways to submit online entries: create a public post with a picture or link to your entry on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag "#Toonys2024", or email support@toontownrewritten.com with the subject "TOONYs 2024 - [Category Name Here]" and a picture or link to your entry.

  • For all entries, whether posted online or sent via email, make sure to include your real/preferred name (last name is not needed unless we contact you as a winner), your Toon Name, and title of your work!
  • All online entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM PST on Friday, May 17th, one week before ToonFest begins.

If you’re a minor, please obtain parental permission before submitting your entry!

Cosplay

  • If you're attending ToonFest, all you need to do is show up in your cosplay on the day of the TOONYs (May 25, 2024). Registration will be available throughout the day, just stop by our booth and talk to a staff member about getting signed up.

  • Please keep in mind that your cosplay should look like something you would see in Toontown!
  • If you can't attend ToonFest, submit a picture of your cosplay using the online submission guidelines by Friday, May 17th.
  • The three best in-person cosplays at ToonFest: The Great Fanfair will receive an exclusive prize and the chance to throw one of the biggest pies at the Annual Toontown Pie Toss.

Videos

Image: A confused bear reading papers.

  • To enter a video for the TOONYs, create an up to three minutes long Toontown short about any story you can imagine! It can be an advertisement, comedy, backstory -- anything relating to Toontown.
  • Videos should not contain any copyrighted music, images, or other content. You are welcome to use any content from Toontown, including music made for our videos on the Toontown Rewritten YouTube channel!
  • Once you've created your video, upload it to YouTube and include the link in your social media post or email to enter the contest.

Artwork

Image: A bear painting a Doodle.

  • Any sort of digital, physical, sketched, or fully illustrated artwork can be submitted for the TOONYs.
  • Submissions should be entirely new artwork created for the TOONY Awards. Artwork that has been previously posted online before the announcement of this contest will be disqualified.

Limericks

  • A limerick is a short poem consisting of only five lines. They’re usually humorous in nature and contain an AABBA rhyme scheme. This means that the first two lines lines rhyme with the last line, whilst the third line rhymes with the fourth. To put it simply, lines that are labeled ‘A’ rhyme with one another, and the lines labeled ‘B’ rhyme with one another.

Image: A crocodile talking through a megaphone.

  • Here is an example:
I hit a Cog with a Cream Pie,
‘That is a fine pie!’ he did cry,
He wiped off his nose,
I threw cake on his clothes,
Who knew a Cog would like Cream Pie?
  • While the rhythm and rhyme are an important part
of the presentation of the poem, the limericks
will also be judged for wit and hilarity, so take a
stroll down Silly Street before you begin writing.
  • Originality and Toon-inspired humor are 75%
of the judgment criteria for this one, so don’t get your gloves tied up in knots if your punniest poem is a few syllables
away from the perfect linguistic layup. We want to see it anyway!

Designing Clothing

  • Similar to our accessory category last year, we decided to bring the ability to draw your clothing idea! The winner will have their design brought to life in-game by the Toontown Team!
  • Please keep your designs SIMPLE! Make sure to create clear designs and make use of bold shapes and colors.

Image: A mouse drawing on a piece of paper.

  • You can submit as many designs as you’d like. If you have an idea for a full outfit, but also an idea for just bottoms, we encourage you to submit them! We even included a template for your use!
  • Your design can be anything, but it must be 100% your own work and not referencing any real-life brand names, logos, or designs. The sillier the better!
  • All entries should be submitted via email. While we encourage you to share your ideas on social media, all official entries for the TOONYs clothing design must be submitted via email. Please add the following statement to the email with your design:

By submitting in this category you volunteer to donate the rights of this design to the Toontown Rewritten project.

Supervisor Cog Remote Jokes

Those new Supervisors sure are tough! You can't even use Remote Controls on them. But who says they can't take a joke? We're looking for Supervisor-themed Cog jokes that Cogs will say when Remote Controlled when in the presence of a Supervisor!

Image: A Bean Counter being controlled by a remote.

  • Keep all jokes Supervisor Cog-related! We’re looking for jokes that a Cog may say about one of the new Supervisors in an attempt to be funny.
  • Make sure your jokes are family-friendly! Cogs always remain professional in their business.
  • Jokes must be in the format presented below. Cogs are formulaic in their jokes!
  • Here is an example:
Call: Why did the Clerk order a year's supply of Red Tape?
Response: She's a real stickler.
  • If you've got multiple jokes brewing in your head, only send us your favorite one. While Bonnie would love to hear them all, there's only so much time in the day to choose the best.

If there’s something we’ve missed, drop us an email at support@toontownrewritten.com for any queries you may have. We’re looking forward to meeting you all at ToonFest: The Great Fanfair, and we’re just as excited at seeing all of your Toontastic submissions! The Toontown community never fails to impress, and we are continuously proud of the talents you all have!

Oh, a Supervisor Joke? Well, I suppose I may leave on. Not the best one, though I'm going to try... AHEM! Call: Did you hear The Foreman visited The Boiler yesterday? Response: He came back feeling under pressure.
