Partner Spotlight: PandaPhilPlays!

Posted by The Toontown Team on September 8, 2022 at 2:00 PM

Hey, Toontown! Do you like pandas? How about bow ties? Well then, prepare to be bamboozled… Today’s Community Partner Spotlight is all about PandaPhilPlays! An avid streamer and Toontown enthusiast, Panda Phil (not a real panda) is one of our sponsored content creators. From gameplay to unique projects like Toontown’s What If?, you’ll be sure to find your fill of fabulous, family-friendly content! Keep scrolling to learn a little more about Panda Phil in our one-on-one interview.

To start off, tell us a bit about yourself! When did you first start playing Toontown? What’s your first memory of the game?

Wow, that's really taking me back! I first played Toontown back in 2004 -- I remember seeing Toontown Online advertised on TV and thought: 'Wow! This looks amazing!' My first memory of the game has to be creating my first Toon: Master Peppy Nicklepop. I was so invested in his name, his clothes, and his design -- when I started playing Toontown Rewritten, I made sure to recreate him!

Wow, 2004 -- that’s back farther than some of us can remember! So, how did this all lead into you creating content? How long have you been streaming, posting YouTube videos, and fostering your Discord community?

Originally, I never intended to! I was raising money for charity, and as part of it I did a 10 hour streaming marathon. After doing that and engaging with the Toontown community, I wanted to explore creating content where I could continue to raise money for charity. I made streaming on Twitch a regular part of my week, and here I am over 2 years later! I also wanted to provide a space for myself and those who watch my content to hang out outside of streams, so I created 'The Panda Army' Discord server a few months after starting.

You wear quite the number of bow ties both in Toontown and on your streams, which your viewers love to see! What makes wearing one so special? What does it mean to you?

Thank you for noticing my collection of bow ties I wear both in Toontown, and on streams! It's crazy how much the they're loved. Even when I've done events in Toontown where I haven't specified any need to wear a bow tie, I see a bunch of toons arrive wearing one! It's amazing!
As for me, wearing one just feels like a part of who I am. I've grown up, like many of us, believing that certain clothes are only worn by certain people, or on certain occasions. Why? Why can't I let my clothing extend my self-expression? Why do bow ties have to be worn formally? Why should we allow Cogs to make bow ties seem corporate and boring? That is what led to me wearing them on stream.

That’s a great outlook, Phil. Who knew something as stylish and simple as a bow tie could hold such a deeper, positive message? Maybe we’ll start wearing more bow ties as well.

Do you or have you hosted any special streams or events? If so, what are some of your favorites? Do you have any coming up?

That's a tough one! However, there were two which will certainly stay in my memory for a long time. The first one was the Community Bench Tour -- not too long after benches were introduced into Toontown Rewritten. It was just an opportunity for us to check out every bench in Toontown and show appreciation towards it. The second one was the Big Estate Party -- this was led by my fellow partner, Iceman. It was a chance to try and have as many Toons on an estate as possible!
There certainly will be some more special streams that people will hear of soon! There will also be an opportunity to take part in an art competition where people's Toontastic artwork could feature in an upcoming YouTube video. I am incredibly excited about this one, as it is all part of a series I have been working on for my YouTube channel!

Exciting stuff! Anything else you’d like to share with the Toontown Rewritten community?

I want to say thank you to the Toontown Rewritten community. Thank you for being so incredibly loving and welcoming. Thanks for being so Toony, and for making every time on Toontown Rewritten so much fun!
To find out when I am streaming, you can go either to my Twitter or my Twitch. You can also check out my Discord server!

Thank you, Phil! All your kind words, positivity and effort are part of what keeps the community thriving. We can’t wait to see what you have in store, and are excited to see your community continue to grow! On that note, that’s about all the time we have today. With the Cartoonival just around the bend, who knows what could be in store for Panda Phil and all our other Community Partners? Only time will tell… but, you can get started by checking out Phil’s other content!

Although he's a streamer I've never heard of, he definitely sounds like someone I need to tune into! Will be doing that soon
