ToonTasks Galore? Resets no more!

Ever wanted to do a ToonTask, but worried about the rumors of the Toon Council revoking tasks once all Toons are able to head into town? Worried about having to re-earn your Teleport Access to the many areas of Toontown? Fear no more, you Toontastic Travelers!
A while back when Toons could only enter Toontown through keys, the Toon Council decided that ToonTasks would be revoked once Toons from everywhere could enter to keep this Sillyness fair to everyone. Now that the PlayLine has been introduced, however, opinions have changed. Sir Max ran all around our community these past few days to gather opinions on it, and the Toon Council has sent me to tell you their decision:
Once the game is released to the public, there will be no Laff, ToonTask, or Teleportation resets of any kind. Your Toons now are your Toons forever! We know that you all love your Laff and don't want to lose it, and now you won't have to. Toons who want to participate in the Max Laff Race (Which you'll hear about later on!) will start off with a completely new Toon once we're completely open to the public. Let the Sillyness live on!
Enough of the Sillyness, though -- you know, I have said that word quite a few times in this post. Sorry about that! I'm not the best writer, but it isn't a typo: it's just a habit. See, Doctor Surlee told me a long time ago to remember that word for him in case he ever needed it. To keep it in my mind, I just got into the habit of saying it often so that I wouldn't forget. Just a little quirk of mine!
Anyhoo, I better be off to arrange some more Teleportation papers. Don't forget to stop by and say Howdy sometime!

Maintenance:
• Add a sanity check to keep track of Districts in case of freezing
• Improve Cog path-finding algorithm to be more efficient
• Major all-around code cleanup
Tweaks:
• Raise the max amount of experience points per battle to 300 (Previously 200)
July 26, 2014 [ttr-beta-v1.3.10]
Maintenance:
• Add SSL support between the client and server connection
• Fix a memory leak in the database server
• Various stability and performance improvements
Bugfixes:
• Fix a district reset relating to an unimplemented feature.
• Implement a task to check if a Toon is "ghosting", which creates issues when a Toon disconnects uncleanly. This is a preemptive measure until the main issue is fixed.

This is awesome, TTR! At first when I heard about this stat reset, I didn't feel motivated to continue past The Brrrgh, but now that our toons will be the same in public release as they are in beta, I am motivated to get my toon to the MAXIMUM laff and gags! Thanks TTR. You're all toontastic.

This is great! I have a Key and I never used it because I knew things were going to be reset.. But now I have a reason to go on with my training!

YAY!!! When I heard that we would be reset, I was a bit sad. That all my progress would be gone. I would have to do ALL my tasks over again. But now I feel better that ill be able to keep all my laff, gags, and cog suits. Thanks guys!!! :)

I was looking forward to the reset. Being a lowly non-beta key holder, I find I am stuck and the first task in the bar as no-one is ever around to help with buildings. I also find that when I go to do a sellbot hq the 100+ toons all stick togther so I never a chance their. I do have friends I have made but they always seem to be online at a different time or doing different tasks. I am now fed up as I can't have any more tasks til I have done 2 four story lawbot buildings and it is getting boring just killing cogs on the street. I had hoped when there was a reset that everyone starting together would even out the playing field. :(

The main thing that is annoying is quest where you have to kill a certain cog... they never show up after its accepted like you can run back and forth a street 10 times but never find what you are looking for, please increase quest Cog frequency

Wait, so no reset when game goes to live from beta? Woo! The part about the max laff race confuses me though. I'm assuming it means that those participating will be creating a secondary toon, but the initial beta toon will still be untouched?

In my opinion this wasn't the smartest move, the playline takes a while to get into which means that toons without beta keys will have slower progress than the ones with. Also, if there was a reset once it was open to all, We could all progress together, and even have like a big race to see who could become the highest laff toon, but that's just one toon's opinion, so don't let it bring you down a single bit :)

The toons that can actually play consistently and or with beta keys? Most toons can only play once a week if using the scheduled playtimes. The progress is much too slow for most toons to be beneficial. I disapprove of this decision as I wish for an even playing field once a full release has been established.

Ah well... guess I'll just have to wait until August 1st. At least I know I can keep working on my toon, even if I never get a beta key (likely already all taken :P). Hi. I actually agree with the few people who think it was not a smart move to not reset the Toon stats. It is not fair for the Toons who have just started or started not so long ago. It is also not fair for the Toons who don't have a Beta Key because they can only play only once a week for three hours. Then the Toons who can play with a Beta Key can advance all the way to currently Lawbot HQ and do tasks to try and defeat the CJ. Then there are the Toons who are still trying to get Level 4 Throw Gags. Like me. It would be a much better playing field, as the other Toons who I agree with call it (And it does make sense!). Then everyone will start at the same time and can have fun working on the same ToonTasks. Please take this into consideration, Toontown Rewritten Staff. Well, thanks for Rewriting Toontown anyway. :) It's really generous what you're doing. :) (Please post this. I want everyone to see that I am one of the supporters of those who want resets instead of no resets. :))

I prefer it this way, I don't even have a beta key so it feels rewarding knowing that everything I've done i have waited my turn for and I get to keep everything I achieved, thanks guys! :)

I am happy it is going to be very soon until public release. Now I haven't got to play it because I've been busy and usually when I get in the server it disconnects. But with the people saying.. it's not fair that new players and other players with the work, I don't mind that. I mean, my toon is 15 laff and I think it will be fun to start from that. Instead of getting some boost. The people with high laff will be able to help us :) I know I helped new people on the old toon town. But anyway I think it's a good choice TTR Staff. Thank you for your hard work and get on goin! I'll try to be in the game to report any issues to make the process faster! and good luck everyone! :)

I don't care if there are any resets. I haven't been able to play at all, so I'm still going to be a newbie either way. Anyways...if I had been able to play before, I honestly wouldn't mind the resets, but because I haven't been able to play until the launcher is updated to the right version, I honestly don't care. I'm really disappointed... The whole purpose was for the beta testers to find bugs, right? And 80% of those didn't report a single bug, I'll bet you that right now. Not to mention when public release comes out, there will already be toons 120+ Laff points so we will all be left out behind. I'm just distressed...

I'm personally disappointed about this decision. One reason (which was also a huge issue for me in the original Toontown) being that when you receive a task for a building, for example, it would be hard to find one with higher level toons taking up many of the buildings in a given playground. Also, if you wanted to do a boss then it would be harder to find a group to fight one for a lower level toon, considering that higher level toons wouldn't want lower levels in a group (also a huge problem in the original game). But nonetheless, those were really some of the only issues about that (for me at least :P). Great work TTR! Hope to see the game out soon!!

Everyone is so excited for this game (including myself), but we really need to know when this game is going to come out to the public. I have found a bug in the TTC clothing ticket task, in which I went to the clothing store and to start with, it said i didn't have a ticket. Eventually, it did and i've changed clothes BUT the task to deliver the ticket didn't work so now I can't change task because it's stuck on one that I have already done. Please try and solve this issue, otherwise i can't get new tasks

Man, Im glad TTR is doing so well. ToonTown was my all time favorite game when i was younger, but I had to stop playing because i couldnt afford a membership. But since TTR is free, and can finally hop back into the ToonTown groove! Thank you all, you're all so amazing for doing this :D

Awe I'm a bit sad because I wanted to be one of the first maxxed toons in release, but I guess its nice to go in with a new toon, having high laff toons to help. Now It'll be fun to hop back in line!

I think it's unfair for the new players that there will be no reset because the higher laff players will all stick together...

I actually kinda wanted it to reset even though everyones gonna disagree, it would be nice for everyone to be even for a while
