Super Sunday: The Elephant out of the Room
Posted by Sir Max on March 30, 2014 at 2:00 PM
Welcome back, everyone! The election may not have happened yet (And trust me, Alec is absolutely horrified by this.), but that doesn't mean that we can't take some of our spare time to do an update in the meantime. At least, we would have done an update, if it weren't for this big elephant in the room that we've all been worried about for this past week. His name is Paul.
An expression, you say? No, I'm talking about a real elephant here. Paul, you see, was being used in the Toon HQ earlier to work on this new experiment for heavierest objects. Turns out that you really can't let wild animals into the Toon HQ, though, because they have this tendency to escape. It's not even a proper escape, either, like sneaking out the door when nobody is looking. No, they just bring down the whole wall! Hrmph, the nerve.
I'm sure you all remember that Ape Incident we had a while back. Boy, was that a problem to deal with. This problem is even bigger though, because instead of a 300 pound ape on the loose, we have a 3 ton elephant!
You'd think that a 3 ton elephant would be easy to spot, but boy is he good at Hide and Go Seek. In fact, the Toon HQ installed new telescopes and periscopes in all of their locations around Toontown to hunt for this big guy. Luckily, we have a trail! Or, had a trail. He's been everywhere from hither and yon to timbuktu, too. We've been following him around through giant gaping holes he leaves in objects. We first spotted his trail at the fence in Donald's Dock, leaving a big hole in it that toons could walk through with ease. Next we followed the tracks to the Party Hat in Minnie's Melodyland where there was another giant hole in a wall nearby. The tracks stopped there, though, since he jumped through a portable hole to take a party break. Oof!
So toons, we're going to be needing your help at this desperate hour. We've got a rouge elephant out of the room, and we need him to be put back into the room. We can follow him around by finding holes in objects around Toontown, usually that lead to The Grey. (Elephants love the color grey, you know.) If you find or remember any holes ("glitches", as some may call them) that lead to the grey, be sure to tell us in the comments so we can get a move on patching them up and finding that elephant.
Now, onto a another elephant in the room (And this time it's an expression!) : The Toon Council Presidential Elections. Trust me, we want to get to them just as much as you do! We've been forming plans on how to fix the server problems which we'll be seeing later this week, as well as forming a few stress test days so we can get your help on making sure that the servers can handle all of the weight we've been putting on them. You may want to lay off the cheeseburgers, too. We'll let you know about that later on, but in the meantime, we need to get back to finding that elephant, and even more so: The holes he's left behind!

March 30, 2014 [ttr-alpha-g5db1723]
Maintenance:
• Code cleanup on Playgrounds
• Added more sanity checks to toons to prevent hacked/glitched DNA
Bugfixes:
• Kicked the elephant out of the room and patched up a few broken collisions that allowed people to glitch into the grey.
• Added collisions to a fence in Donald's Dock. Only took 11 years!
• Patched up a hole in Minnie's Melodyland which was introduced when parties were originally added in Toontown Online.
• If you know of any other places that let you glitch into areas that you shouldn't be able to get to, let us know! We'll be patching up all of the elephant holes that we can find.
Features:
• Implemented basic True Friends, which are currently only being tested with a select group of people due to us being unable to strictly moderate it during alpha.
• Installed new periscopes and telescopes to Toon HQs in every playground
• A flower finally bloomed on the hat of the HQ in Daisy Gardens. That stem has been there for years without blossoming!

Well you can clip through some walls if you walk at an angle against the wall.

It's not so much a glitch that leads to the grey. But it's the tunnel to Baritone Boulevard from Minnie's Melodyland Playground, you can just walk straight through the wall on the left side of the tunnel and go down the tunnel. I noticed this before Toontown Online closed.

I'm not an alpha tester so I cannot confirm if you have fixed this or not, but on Punchline Place, you could jump through some of the walls at the building "Barely Palatable Pasta".

Good luck on catching that elephant -- you can do it! On another note, I heard a group of teenage guys talking about TTR when I was in line at Disneyland yesterday. Small world, huh? You've got fans everywhere :)

Yay, it's good to hear from you, Sir Max! I remember if you turned around your phone or trunk next to the wall in your house, it got you to The Green. Not sure if it helps 'cause it's not The Grey, but maybe you could fix that, too. :)

So you're fixing the glitches into the grey. Toontown rewritten is already 10x better than the original toontown.

Paul the Elephant, that's an interesting name. To get him back maybe you should bring out some peanuts to lure him into a trap to catch him. Don't let mice chase after him. Elephants hate mice. They'll run away. Good luck with the elephant TTR team! :)

Poor Paul... He's a nice guy. I had him over at my house once, and he leaned on my fence weird and bent it. If I go behind the pink house and run against my fence so my face rubs against it, I can do a Zero-Gravity Jump like I'm in the undecorated grey. (Personally, I like to furnish the extra grey in my house with rugs so I can jump for joy without getting stuck!) Paul also told me of a place in the Toontown Central Streets where we could run into the grey... It was in a cultusac place right by a building with an elevated front door. You had to walk up the stairs to get to the door. Something with the hill against the sides of the building made it possible to "Paul" our way through to freedom!! Good times... GOOOooOood times....

Don't forget the teleporting glitches that causes people to go in the grey. For example there is one in Chip and Dales where you can be in the corner near one of the street entrances are at, and just teleport to someone and it will take you out of the map. That Elephant has been sneaky.

Well, then! I missed you guys! Oh, and there is a glitch in Toontown Central that you can like walk into the right corner wall of the gag shop, and another where you can teleport to someone at a certain time when they walk out of the door, and then go into The Grey. Also, there is some 'flying' glitches, and you can fly in the air anywhere, and like get on top of buildings. AND, you can teleport to someone by a wall, i.e., the window glass thing in the HQ, and sometimes get behind it and walk into The Grey.

There was an old glitch in Daisy's Gardens on some of the ledges by the gag shop. By standing on the walls next to the ramps int just the right spot, opening your book would teleport you through the ground (behind the hedges) and into the grey! (That being said this was always a fun glitch)

Hey, those are those two holes from the original Toontown! Loved going through those unfortunately. But, it's best to clear up all glitches. I wonder how those glitches started, last I remember I kept testing collisions and kept running into the fence when it happened.

This is becoming quite disappointing but I understand you're trying your best and can't do anything about it. Keep doing awesome work. You've come this far, so why in the tooniverse would you stop now?
